Lawn Tractor Trailer - How to Build the Best for Your Needs

When you’re planning big landscaping projects, a wheelbarrow and garden wagon just don’t cut it. Whether you’re removing heavy loads of mulch or moving chopped firewood, hauling large amounts of material requires something more than a simple wheelbarrow or garden cart.

You need a lawn tractor dump cart that can handle the job with ease and is sized properly to fit your equipment. Choose a cart that has a load capacity that’s compatible with your lawn tractor and a trailer hitch for easy attachment.

Dump carts come in a variety of sizes, and capacities range from 7 cubic feet to more than 20. They typically attach to a lawn tractor with a drop pin and feature tilting beds to quickly offload bulk materials like soil, gravel, manure or grass clippings.

The right dump cart for your needs is made of premium steel and features heavy-duty tires to support a heavy load while it’s traveling around your yard or garden. It’s also important to check that the manufacturer’s maximum load weight and volume are compatible with your lawn tractor’s towing capacity.

Many dump carts feature a catch-and-release mechanism that engages where the tub’s tongue meets the front of the trailer frame. Activating the handle releases the catch, which raises the tub and allows you to easily tip it through the tailgate with one motion. The best models have a foot pedal that depresses the lever, leaving you both hands free to lift it.
