What Is a Go-Kart?
What is a go-kart? This article will answer that question and more! These vehicles were originally called "open-wheeled cars." They are now a popular recreational vehicle and are even road legal in some states! Learn more about the history and development of go-karts by reading our guide! We'll discuss how to get started and what to know before you buy one. There are many great go-kart companies out there!

Open-wheeled car
The mechanism of a Go-kart is similar to that of a motorcycle or a bicycle, but the two vehicles are substantially different. While covered-wheel racing vehicles can be considered the fastest on the road, open-wheel cars are notoriously difficult to master. Even professional drivers have started in the kart category before moving on to the big leagues. Most F1 and IndyCar drivers began their careers in karting as children.

Race car
When a race car is launched from the starting line, the driver sits in a custom-fit seat. The race car has a suspension system and no hard kart seat, which can be very uncomfortable. In addition, the kart's suspension system is not as effective as that of a race car. As a result, a race car is more agile than a go-kart, which makes it better for handling speedy corners.

Recreational vehicle
In terms of safety, go-karts are considered recreational vehicles under the law. While they are not deemed road-worthy, they are still legal to ride on public property. They also lack many safety features and equipment. It's not advisable to drive one without a safety helmet, as it can be dangerous and result in fines. To prevent the risk of an accident, you should register your go-kart with the state's Department of Motor Vehicles.

Road legal in some states
If you plan on driving your go-kart on public roads, you must register your go-kart before riding it. Some states require a speed test and license plate for your go-kart. To get these items, you need to contact your local DMV. There are some requirements to follow, including safety. You must have the necessary insurance and license plate before you can ride on public roads. Safety should be your number one priority, so you must make sure you have all of the legal paperwork in place.
