These free DIY plans will show you how to build this VR Cockpit Desk.

What Is a VR Gaming Desk?

A VR gaming desk has two main functions. First, it transforms your gaming desk into a cockpit. Second, it can change the height of your desktop. It can be raised from 28" to 45" or lowered to the exact height you prefer. With this type of desk, you can enjoy the gaming experience on a whole new level.

Ergo Edge design transforms your gaming desk into a cockpit

The Ergo Edge VR gaming desk transforms your standard gaming desk into a cockpit, with two built-in handles. These handles allow the person sitting in the office chair to easily pull the VR Cockpit Desk into a comfortable gaming position. These handles can be easily installed before the body panels are installed. You can place them about two inches in from the edge of the joystick panel and four inches from the edge of the other two panels. Attach the handles with the included screws.

Nvidia 3080 display card

A VR gaming desk requires a powerful video card, and the Nvidia 3080 is an excellent option. The card's price is well within the range of a budget PC, but it's important to remember that the recommended card might not be up to the task of running all future games. As such, it's important to add performance overhead when building your system. This will allow you to run future VR titles and even some AAA games that aren't yet available.

While multi-card setups can be effective for non-VR games, there are currently few titles that support this configuration. You can still set up two or three cards if you want to achieve the highest non-VR performance. However, at the moment, it's best to stick to one powerful card.

Depending on your budget and desired performance level, you can buy a prebuilt PC or build your own. Prebuilt PCs are generally of high quality, but warranties can vary. In contrast, building your own PC will give you a much better value for your money.

HP Omen 45L

The HP Omen 45L VR gaming desk has an impressive amount of USB ports on top, including four USB-A ports, one USB-C port, and Ethernet LAN. It also has three audio connections. While it lacks some features that you need for a gaming PC, this desk has more than enough space to accommodate your needs. Unlike some other gaming desks, the Omen 45L does not use off-the-shelf motherboards, but instead, comes with a custom one.

The HP Omen 45L is made of solid steel and features a brushed aluminum finish and white rhombus logo. While it does not have a high-end design like Alienware's gaming PCs, it comes with an excellent variety of ports and a unique "Cryo Chamber" that houses the CPU radiator.

The Omen 45L is available in a wide range of configurations. It can be outfitted with an Intel or AMD processor and an Nvidia or AMD graphics card. The AMD graphics card is limited to a Radeon RX 6700 XT. The Omen 45L VR gaming desk has a very stylish design and a solid warranty and support system.

Alienware Aurora series

The Alienware Aurora series VR gaming desk comes with a full complement of features designed to enhance your VR gaming experience. With up to 4TB of total storage, PCIe NVMe SSDs, and up to 15 USB ports, the Aurora is ready to take on the most demanding VR experiences. Its modular design lets you add components and upgrades to suit your needs. Moreover, the desk is equipped with massive amounts of memory for maximum multitasking.

The Aurora is designed with enhanced usability in mind, thanks to its side entry panel, conveniently placed USB ports, and a headset and microphone plug-in. It also comes with Killer(tm) Wireless and Killer(tm) E3000 Ethernet LAN. It has an additional feature called Killer(tm) DoubleShot Pro, which boosts connection signals.

The high-end Aurora R14 gaming desktop has an impressive configuration, with a high-end AMD Ryzen 7 5800 processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 graphics card. With eight GB of dedicated RAM, the Aurora R14 VR gaming desk is capable of handling demanding VR games.
