He studied engineering in the early 1980s and has since developed a passion for building cool things around his cabin and farm. In addition to his plans, Stone is available to answer any questions you may have and is constantly adding new designs. Ben Stone's Whiteside Farm
The history of Ben Stone's Whiteside Farm in Orange County, Kansas, dates to 1762, when John Braley sold 596 acres of land in that county to Abraham and James (or Thomas) Whiteside. They settled on the Haw River's Reedy Fork near the confluence of the Long Branch and Reedy Fork. There are no other references to Abraham Whiteside in historical records. However, in 1768, a man named John Whitsett sold 100 acres to Benjamin Stone of Orange County. John Whitsett's deed to Ben Stone was proved in open court by Lawrence Thompson and James Whitsett is a witness to John Louge's will in November 1769.

William Whiteside came from Pennsylvania and worked as a farm laborer for three years in an English settlement. He later bought a farm in Whiteside County, Illinois, and farmed there until 1866. He was a Democrat and active in his party. The couple's first child, Ozias A. Kendal, died in 1898. His son, Ben, and his wife lived on the "bluff" until the spring of 1856.
